Default Is it posable to upgrade my 94 suburban TPI to a LQ4 or LQ9?

Hi, I have a 94 Suburban 1500 with a 5.7 and I wanted to up grade it to a newer LQ4 or LQ9 engine. Does anyone know if it is posable to do this? Thanks for all the help. If you do know could you send me in the right area to do the swap. Thanks

Sure is. The Conversions & Hybrids section over on t4ch has a lot of info about swapping a GEN III engine in place of your GEN I. Another resource is ls1truck.com.

Its a Vortec model but the TBI should be easier.

You have TBI or TPI. If you have TPI, why not just stroke the engine to a 383 and put a Vortec TPI base on it, vortec heads, and a 213/219 for good low end power and mpg.

It is definitely possible. The wiring was by far the worst part, but you can buy ready made harnesses for the swap. You just need motor mount adapter plates and the motor will drop right in. If you get the correct plates, you can use the same driveshafts and trans lines which is a huge money and time saver. I dropped a LS2 in my 1998 Sierra 1500. If you use the motor mounts I mentioned above, you can also use stock LQ4/LQ9 manifolds and cat pipes to help with the exhaust also.

Check out www.ls1truck.com

The forums there has a section dedicated to LSX swaps with tons of FAQs and info and helpful members that can answer any of your questions.
