Default Porting Heads...best elec. or air grinder??? Update on 383

I got an elec "fixed" speed from Sears and it spins at such a high speed that you can't use long shank carbide bits as it will bend the shafts....reason I had to cut one down...bad thing about it is that it gets to darn hot to fast at the extended neck....I do have an air compressor but it's only a 5HP 20 gallon tank so the compressor will run down pretty fast if I use my air grinders...any suggestions here guys? I really need to finish up my Vortec heads so I can get my built 383 put together

I've got all the parts now to finish it too

Art Carr HD (lockup) Torque Converter 2.15 STR at 2800rpms Less than $350
Dual flex-a-lite 295 fans to fit the Howe radiator and 7.3L turbo diesel intercooler...this dual fan fits perfectly with no hacking Got a great price on these too

I hope to have it running before the year is up!

Ken

Personally, I'd stay away from an air compressor based rotary tool. Whatever you get, it has to have a 1/4 collet. I bought a Dremel brand tool.

Its a little pricey, but you get what you pay for. I've ported a couple of sets with mine, and the foot control and flex shaft are great. I hardly use my old 1/8th inch dremel anymore.

I would think that Dremel setup would be the choice for porting. Especially with a lightweight piece in your hand, you could concentrate on porting and not hefting a big grinder around.
