Default port stock tb or 80 mm?

Thinking about ordering a 80 mm for the 5.3L

is it worth the cash? or should I just find a stock ported one?

the ls1 car tb's are the same as ours correct?

it would go into "limp" mode... the (dic) displayed decreased engine power.

I put a 80bbk on my 5.3 gained a little on the top end. what you will really notice is how senseitive to throttle input it becomes. when you just crack the throttle from idle a little the truck will jump if you dont learn to use less throttle initially. thats cause its so much bigger that just a little is like a lot used to be from idle. Its like a hair trigger on a gun. you have to get used to it. but not much gain for the almost 400 i spent. now went to a whipple and took it off. 250 plus shipping if you want it.

I suggest just a stock truck TB. The only difference in the car and truck TB's is the throttle cam on the side that the cable connects to. The trucks TB opens quicker with less pedal, and the car opens slower with more pedal. They do this to make the throttle more managable for everyday driving.

With big TB's you wont get much of a gain till you get up in the big HP numbers and need the extra flow. Ported is ok for smoothing out flow into the intake.
