I designed a complete conversion kit to install ANY chevy V8 in the 944,968
I will have less than $3500 in my swap that's including the car. I have owned 5 of them over the years and they just need more power. I test rode an LS1-944 and it is sick. Now with the cheap power of the 5.3L. a true world class sports car can be had for under 10K.

No, I designed custom motor mounts that go from the Porsche X-member to the Chevy engine.....
I also designed a custom adapter plate that uses the Corvette C5 bellhousing on any Chevy block that mates to the Porsche Torque tube....And uses the stock C5 internal Hydraulic Throwout bearing or the S10 T.O. bearing
The 5.3l Block can use an LS1 Camaro Pressure plate and Ls1 Fidanza flywheel, You just need a 1x23 spline clutch disk to go on the Porsche Shaft...

What's crazy is after you rip out the weak 4-cylinder, the 8 cylinder has more work room.....go figure

I'd be all over that like Obama on a stimulus package. I chose the truck motor because with just a custom cam you are in the 400 RWH range.
There are many options for the truck motors. I think I have found my wiring harness from a member here, still need a PCM. I want one from a truck that had the CABLE THROTTLE (no drive by wire PCM)

Let me know if anyone has a lead....Thanks for all the comments.
I designed a big brake kit for the car, maybe later I'll do one for the Trucks.
Swap Headers will be done by a member Johnny Johnny here and wiring harnesses will be done by another SSP....Enough talent here to walk you thru the swap.....XSChop

I Found something interesting with the 5.3L swap. To get the LS1 intake's throttle body cam to clear, you have to put on the Vette water pump, no big deal, bolts right up. However it sets 3/4" back from the truck's crank pulley. So instead of buying a Vette crank pulley and tensioner to match (which would then throw off the alternator bracket). I looked it over and 3/4" water-jacket spacers can be made to go between the Vette pump and Truck block, problem solved. I will get pics up when done with that crap. I am working on the best way to mount the Truck alternator and I'm done....**** On Power Steering, that's getting the axe.

wow, interesting project. As great and reliable porsches are, this is a 944. Do you think the body will be able to handle a 6.0 without getting ripped apart? If I remember correctly, 944 turbo's rated at 247HP and 258 ft·lbf torque had problems with their chassis flexing too much after so many years.

Then you go out and double the size of the engine and almost likewise with power.

Can you let us know how all turns out, this is indeed interesting.
