Default Poor Man's Borla - Full Catback sys.

I don't know if this has been posted yet, but here it is.

LMC Truck now has a 99 - 06 catalog. If you take this sysetm,

http://lmctruck.com/icatalog/ce/t.asp?page=32

and buy a borla universal muffler (fromsummit, $100), and cut it in...

voila...

poor mans borla

On my WS6, I ran Pacesetter LTs, ORY, SLP Loudmouth and a borla universal. The system looked like this...

It worked out nicely. You can get yourself a good sounding borla for about $350, and a little cutting.

W/o any restriction on the non-muffler side, wouldn't you get all of the flow out of that side? Seems it wouldn't be much different than just running straight pipes. I know the Borla on the f-bodys has a bypass, but doesn't it also have a "tunable" flange for different sized flow orifices?

POOR MANS BORLA

no, that pic is a sketch of what the exhuast path on my 01 WS6 looked like.

I didn't think it was going to work, but before that setup, there was pacesetter LTs,
going through a loudmouth (straight thru 3" piping, with a 4" resonator), so you can imagine,
it was really loud. Open headers, that were piped out the back.

Well, living in Florida at the time, windows were always down, when it wasn't raining,
and when the exhaust would reflect of a car/truck that I was next to, it was ear piercing.
So I tried the setup that you see in the first sketch, and I'll be damned, but it worked.

It tones it down enough, that when the exhaust isn't under extreem pressure ( not at WOT),
enough of the gases go thru the muffler to make it dealable.

But at WOT, you are correct, the path of least resistance is the desired effect.

The correct truck system would look like this...

The "tunable" aspenct is all you loose. But when you hear it, its not that big of a loss. Remember, price was the idea here, and I saved $400, all I lost was the restrictor plate. Not a bad trade, IMO.
