Default Poll: LS6 valley cover-Difference in Oil Consumption?

I've seen mixed reviews about it. Please share if it made a difference in oil consumption or if you could even tell a difference.

I wasn't aware that LS trucks had an oil consumption problem. My 03 5.3 GMC uses about 1/4 of a quart between oil changes, or 6000 miles. I use 0W-30 German Castrol. 78,000 miles on the truck.

nah i think he's talking about the the fact that the LS6 valley cover has a built in catch can, thus helping the 5.3L PCV oil consumption

On my old 6.0 I had an AMW and LS6 valley. Cut my oil consumption to dam near zero! The LS6 cover doesnt have a catch can persay. It just has a massive series of baffles.

Do these bolt right onto the 6.0? Anybody know the part # and where a good write-up is on the swap?

It depends on the model year of the motor. If its an early 6.0 you may have to do some cutting in the valley.

www.LS1HowTo.com has a great write-up on swapping the cover on an LS1.

It helped when we did mine. Before LS6 cover 1-1.5 quarts per 3,000 miles. After valley cover 1/2 to 3/4 quart per 3,000.
