Wow I happened to be looking at a profile and that person was looking at this thread. I didn't pay attention to the age.

Water cools much more efficantly and 100% is best for everything but two reasons. One it freezes. Secondly it will rust your motor and currode everything. Enough ANTI-FREEZE(the real name, it isn't coolant) to keep it from freezing is your best setup for coolest performance.

The reason 50/50 is most common is because it covers those properties. Currosion resistance, freeze protection, yet plenty of water for enough cooling.
Nowadays, most of the gallons that I see say "Antifreeze/Coolant", as it works as both....

...and this made in China stuff doesn't even say "anti-freeze" on the container...

Just different terminology in most cases...

****, sorry about the BIG PIC LOL

As usual, budhayes gave good advise. Never run straight anti-freeze! I use about a 50/50 or slightly more diluted mix of Dex-cool and distilled water. Never had a problem with corrosion or overheating. I also recommend changing your coolant every few years because it will turn acidic with age and miles. The anti-freeze doesn't wear out, but the additive package does. Yes, I noticed it was an old thread, but still worth bringing up once a year or so for the people who have not seen it before. It is good information.
