Default Plug Wire Impedances

Have any of you ohmed out you plug wires, stock or aftermarket/performance? Grabbing at straws as to what's arrigh with my truck, I checked mine today. I have a set of Magnacore's that have been on about two years. I was kinda shocked to see that they were all ~1.8K Ohms +/-30 Ohms. Seems kinda high for a performance wire to me. What impedances have you guys gotten with your wires?

I did my stock wires last week and they were all around 410 ohms plus or minus 25 ohms.

The C5 Helms manual says that the wires should not have more than 700 ohms of resistance.

Wow, that comes to about 200ohms an inch! That is alot, but after two years it should not be that much. The best wires I have seen have been by Jaccobs, which garuntee 35ohms per inch of cable. The JBA 9mm wires I got, claimed 50 ohms per inch. I just went and checked mine, and came up with 820ohms. That comes to about 90ohms per inch.

Unless that claim is the wires only, maybe the terminals that plug into each end have maybe up to 200ohms each, that would give me about my numbers with about 400 ohms in the wires in 8"s, that comes to about 52 ohms an inch. The factory wires are supposed to be about 200 to 250 ohms per inch.

I also ran back into the garage and checked the stock ones 2.3K ohms resistance. Dude unless my gauge is wrong, your wires are going bad, or something!

After seing your post I had to go back and check mine again. I pulled off #1 and the stock wire measured 780 ohms. .393 of 2k ohms. Still much lower than both of the wires listed above.

I switched to the Taylor ThunderVolt wires which were 50 ohms comparted to the factory 750 ohms.

Well, I did some research on Magnacor's page and they say 2.2k/ft so it seems I am within specs. I also read their theory on how their wires work. With me being an Electrical Engineer, it made scence, but I am still a bit sceptical of a few of thier claims.
