Here is what I'm currently building. I've asked this before, but what the hell, I need the reassurance!
-98' LS1 Shortblock
-Patriot Performance stage 2 5.3 heads
-FMS custom cam (218/220 or 220/222 or similar on a 112/113 LSA)
-New Bearings, rings, FMS LS6 oil pump, ARP Rod Bolts, etc.
-FMS dyno tune w/ a 2002 pcm
-Restalled stock converter (2400 stall)
What I really wanted to do was a 382 stroker with a F13 cam (230/232-113), Eagle crank, Eagle Rods, and Mahle pistons. Due to little mishaps, school, and work, I can't afford to do a stroker. So, I want to be sure this is what I want for a daily driver with about the same low-end torque that I have now with the cammed 5.3. But, I also want to be able to pull lightenings, '05 mustang GTs and stuff like that on the street. In other words, I guess I want a mid to low 13sec truck in street trim and to be able to put down about 350-360rwhp/340-350rwtq w/ a nice flat torque curve.
I've rode in an ext. cab silverado with a LS1 swap with the 212/218 cam, tune, flowmaster cat-back, K&N FIPK, stock exhaust manifolds, 4.10 gears. I was very impressed with the low-end torque, however the very top-end pulled just a little harder than my 5.3. I didn't ride in it but once, but I wasn't as impressed with the top-end as I thought I would be. I'm sure it was because of the truck not having true duals and long-tubes, which really opens up these motors, especially with a cam.
So, do you guys think I will be pleased with this set-up? I do not want to go bigger on the cam, the biggest I would even consider would be a 222/222. I also don't want any bigger than a restalled converter to about 2400 rpms. I've rode in a truck with a 3000 stall and didn't like it for a daily driver, gotta be tighter. Sorry for rambling on! Thanks ya'll!
