Planning my LS1 swap
#1
I have came across a very low mileage LS1 takeout form a 99 F-body and will be picking it up here in a week or so. I will be dropping it into my 2002 that has a 4.8 in it. It is a complete motor except like an a/c compressor. I know the swap pretty much, it is a direct drop in. But im wondering which way i should do things.
Drop the motor in with all of the LS1 accessories and intake(if i am even able to drop it in with the LS1 accessories). I know that if I use the LS1 intake on a truck motor, you have to make a bracket for the idler pully but what about with LS1 accessories?
or
Bolt on my accessories and put the truck intake on top so i dont have to worry about swapping injectors.
I will just be puting a new cam, springs, and pushrods then dropping it in. I am just trying to do something fun and reliable because it is driven everyday of the year.
The motor has been sitting so a friend of mine suggested to put new seals and such in the motor. Anything else I should do?
Is there anything I am missing? Any suggestions will help.
