Why not try Mobil 1 and Lucas Synthetic Oil Stabilizer like 'sroach' did?

Mine has had the slap since I picked it up at 40,000 miles. Ive put 20,000 on it but Ive gotten use to it. It doesn't sound like you have the true slap cuz it goes away in a block or 2. It is more noticeble under 40 degrees but it always goes away. I was pissed after spending big $ for sumthing that knocked but hey I havent heard to many gms that didnt have a knock or that damned lifter tick which I also seem to have. Mobile one seems to have made the noises louder and I feel for ya.

Nobody mentioned it could be a carbon knock,use seafoam from Napa or you GM dealer may still have availible GM engine top cleaner

I explained in your other thread. Do like gonzo suggested and run a can of seafoam thru it and see if it helps. Do it just before you change you oil though.
