Talking pcm installation info!!!!!!!!!!!!

well i got my new pcm from allen in the mail. installed the cam and then the pcm. it would not communicate. then found my alarm was acting funny. i have remote start. i had them remove the remote start and the gm bypass module. came back home and put in the new pcm and wow. what a difference.

if you are getting a tune or going to get a tune and you have remote start you may have some problems with doing the VATS relearn procedure. the bypass module goes between the BCM and the KEY SWITCH to make the truck think the key is in. you can have it disabled to do the installation and then hooked back up afterwards. just a thought.

it's on the driver side by the steering shaft. Atleast this is where it is on mine.

Ya .. I was gonna ask about the remote start. Do you have one that has an extra remote. I want one that I can operate off the same remote. There is one out, but I can't find it anywhere on the net.

i have a dei python alarm with remote start. you have to use a bypass module for the alarm to use the remote start function. it makes the pcm think the key is in there. i dont think everyone will have this problem but i know i did. after i disabled the remote start and they removed the bypass module. after that i did the relearn and she came alive. thanks again allen at nelson performance.

the only way you will have this problem is if the vats is turned on in the pcm. if the vats is turned off then it wont effect it at all.
