Default Patriot performance stage 2 LS6 heads are in!!!

I just got my new stage 2 patriot performance ls6 heads and they look pretty good for the price. My only concern is the intake runners you can still see some of the cast on them. Is this a problem? This is my first set of cnc'd heads, I have always had hand ported heads. Also should I do anything to improve these head prior to installing them? I was thinking about smoothing the exhaust runners out. What about the valves? What brand valve is in these heads? I heard the older heads had valve problems anyone know of any valve problems with these? Should I cange the valves? Thanks for any info.

I thinked they changed over to all REV valves, I might be wrong. I wouldn't try to clean them up by hand you could actually hurt the flow. Did they come with flow numbers?

You can leave them as they are, or maybe smooth the exhaust runners a little. Wont help any on the intake side(so I read in a thread the other day in advanced engine forum).

Leaving some of the cast in the intake runners helps out with the mixture. I would think that they should be ready to bolt on and go. I read an article about a year ago where those heads and their cam made 500 horse (flywheel) on and LS1 with a factory LS6 intake and stock TB!

I suggest you leave the heads alone. Once you start messing with them yourself, any warranty goes out the window. Just look them over well and put them on.

Some CNC marks are normal. Take a look at the recent pictures of the west coast heads that someone posted. If you still see some casting, thats probably because they found that there was nothing to be gained from porting that area.

The "witness" that is left in the head is not a problem. Sometimes when heads are worked on, it can actually harm the flow. All of our heads come with REV valves which are a great quality valve.
