Part Number for Tranny Cooler
#1
I was wondering if someone could could give me the part numbers and the dimensions of the aftermarket tranny coolers you are using. I'm gonna go with a Hayden cooler, but I want to get the biggest one that will fit on the tranny. I'm only putting a 2500 stall with a shift kit on it but I don't want the damn tranny frying on me.
What part numbers/sizes are you guys using?
Thanks!!!

Mine is a Hayden Rapid Cool #679. It is 3/4" thick and 11 3/4" X 11". However the design makes it cool 33% more than a typical cooler of the same size.
I forgot to mention, if you put this on the very front where it will perform best, this is about as big as you can go without hitting the radiator supports.

I'm running a Hayden part #404 3/4" X 7.5" X 15.5" It fits perfect between the radiator supports. Its not the rapid cool like I wanted, but it does its job. Not sure how your gonna set yours up, but if you want to run it through the radiator, you will need a trans line fitting kit Hayden part #390 for a clean install. I didn't use mine, (bypassed the radiator) but I think everyone else is running there cooler through the radiator.

Yeah i forgot to mention the #390 fitting kit. Also I used every bit of hose they included and it barely fit so if you get that one be conservative on the hose or buy some extra. I know it is none of my business, but why would you want to bypass the radiator part?

Thanks for the help guys, I'll be sure to pick up the 390 kit to go along with it.
Cashdude, did you get yours from O'Reillys? That seems to be the only auto store round here that has them in stock.
BTW, yeah I want the cleanest install possible with the best cooling capabilities. I'm gonna let a mechanic put this on the same time he changes the gears, Eaton posi, and torque converter and shift kit. Do I assume he knows where to install it at?

Yes I got it at Oreilly's. If you get the same one as me, then there is only one place it will fit and you have to remove a bar that goes across with 2 little 10mm bolts. Then when the cooler is on you can put the bar back on and it clears is just perfect. It is not hard if you decide to do it yourself. I can screw up an oil change but I managed to do this with no problems at all, (just use liquid thread sealer instead of teflon tape.) Also I put 3/8 wire loom around the hose where it could come in contact with anything.
