Default parish tb tunning question??

hey i got a question about the throttle body on my 04 silverado its 4.8. snakeater got the carchip and we put it on my truck and come to find the tb don't open up all the way it only opens to like 95-97% is there a tunning fix for the or is there something wrong with it. i did notice that when i'm like on like the interstate trying to hold a cruise it sometimes make a funny sound (the exhaust) like maybe the tb is opening and closing ever so slightly but i'm holdin in the same postion. its hard to describe. the sound is not a constant hum sometimes it kind goes up and down. its one of those hafta hear it type of things. its just enough where like i can notice it but just somebody riding that don't care will never notice.

thanks in advance,
mike

Hey Mike, stop waitsing government time and money, get back to work.!!!!!!!

Was it opening as much as 95%? I know it idles at about 4%. I bet it can be tuned out. The TB blade itself goes to 100% if you open it by hand, so it must be the servo motor or something preventing it from going 100%. Hurry up with that bonus and we can get HPTUNERS.

I think back with the cable operated throttle bodies, you had to mod the throttle stop to get a full 99-100% opening. You don't want to go over a certain TPS voltage, or you'll throw a code.

I'm not sure if it's the same with these drive by wires. Mine opens to 99%. Never any more than that.

Stupid question, but your pedal goes all the way to the floor, right? Your floor mat isn't in the way or anything?

yep goes all the way down. i'm trying to figure out why it sometimes makes that sound. its not all the time just seems like everytime i get on the highway or interstate some times. its just a slight change in hum. its very slight but i can tell it. i think snake eater heard it to.

sorry can't help ya, when i floor mine i see 99.6 or 100% so i have never had to deal with what you are talking about. i do kind of remember a pedal problem though, i figured out right when i got the truck you had to push it harder than i would have expected to see that 99.6%+. now when i go racing i make sure my seat is up far enugh that i can mash the throttle to the floor.

i dont know what that noise would be, i would expect the ac compresor or something along those lines before any throttle things. we have a vacume pump too that makes some noise at times but only under low vac conditions and you probably dont see that ever.

my service truck has a elect tb on it. the noise i think you are hearing is a hissing noise right. if so it is the tb blade opening and closing causing it to suck air thru a tighter space. thus it will sound like a hissing noise. even over bumps sometimes when you are controlling it.

it kinda sounds like as if i were pumping the throttle in and out ever so slightly. that may be what i'm doing though couse its a rough road kinda getting on to highway 1 which is where it normaly happens.
i'll try to floor it a little harder and see if that helps any.

Yeah, I think that is the same thing that 02denali is talking about. I know my 04 sierra has the same sound. Its the throttle body blade opening like he said. I couldn't hear it when I had flowmasters on my truck, but now that I am running my new magnaflow custom exhaust I can hear it. Its like a sucking/hissing sound.
