Default Parish 8-Questions about your stall converter.....

Hey man, i read a post somewhere's that you have a 3000 yank stall in your z71. I am looking for more umph from my truck but i do not race it. Mainly i just want more power down low, and i'm thinking that with a stall bringing it up to 3000 rpm it'd be a little more in the power band. ANyway, do you race your truck? how does it do around town? gas mileage? towing capability (will i still be able to tow?) , How would the truck do with a cam and the stall, would there be any issues? wouldn't be a huge cam, just something to bring the peak #'s down a little on the powerband, if that's possible. Anyway, thanks for the help

How much is a Yank 3000 Truck Thruster? And do you need any special tools to install it? I hope to get this as my next mod.

http://www.converter.cc/trucks_and_suvs.htm My Yank TT3000 is being installed as we speak. I can't wait to feel the difference over the stock one! <img border="0" alt="[driving]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_driving3.gif" /> I bought it straight from Yank for $750 + $28 for shipping but it can possibly be bought cheaper elsewhere.

yea, what big tex said, only i would go one step further and say if you don't plan on racing then just keep the stock converter. neither the 2600 or 3000 will help with towing and they even have some negative towing side effects. the 3000 is awsume for geting out of the hole but that is a racing thing.

i got the yank3000 because i want to race, i want my truck as fast as it can be and still be able to tow, well... thats the best converter for what i wanted but there are a couple of side effects. it is a little louder untill it locks up and the biger side effect is when you are towing a moderate load up a moderate hill the converter will unlock and the rpms will go right up to 3000rpm, with the stock converter it just jumps up a few hundred rpm to something like 2300 or so and then if you continue to need more power it then downshifts to 3rd and that is something like 3000rpm. do you see what i am talking about here? if you are towing in a hilly area it will lock and unlock alot, with the stock converter you can hardly hear it happen but with the yank3000 it is like a full downshit to 3rd.

with a 6.0 and a whipple i can tow a car on a trailer thru the mountains and only have it unlock once in awhile but without all that extra power your truck will be unlock alot more often.

I just installed a Yank 3000 in my Z71 this weekend. I haven't had time to check mileage or even get before and after times from it. I can tell you that it will help if you race your truck. If you don't race, I think the stall is a little high. I installed a Yank 2600 in a escalade EXT last week. I think I prefer the 2600s lower rpms over my Yank 3000. It probably has something to do with vehicle weight as well. Since we have heavier trucks, it takes more to get them moving from a stop, making the stall feel a little larger. You can tell that both converters are installed, but the 2600 catches a little sooner at low throttle. The 2600 would be a nice transition from a stock converter. I'm still getting used to the 3000. Mine drives fine. Its just hearing all the extra rpms at low throttle / low speed that takes some getting used to. The extra rpms make your exhaust seem louder. When I have the radio up and cant hear the exhaust, I don't notice the stall as much. Both converters are said to retain the factory tow ratings, but I think the 2600 would be the better choice for towing.

Bottom line, if you want performance, go with the 3000. If you want a torque boost and dont race, go with the 2600.
