Did you use shims with your LS6 springs. I did not on mine. I think with the comp cam I want and the stock LS6 springs I already have without shims will work great. Thanks

I didn't use shims. If you thought that cam was going to need more lift than the LS6 springs could handle, just get some comp springs (918 I think). The LS6 springs are geed for .525 lift (and maybe some more). The comp cam you are looking at only has .520 and .529 lift, so those LS6 springs should work great.
What cam are you running now?

Right now I have the 2000 6.0 liter cam in there. I did have the LS6 cam in there. Made damn good power up high but boy it was a dog down low. Had the 6.0 cam laying around and swapped out the cam. Gained back low end but it still a wimpy cam.

Cool. After having the LS6, then going to the LQ4 cam, how did the bottom end feel? Did you notice a big increase in the bottom, and that old drop off at 5500?
I wouldn't be against changing cams if I could find a good mix - more low end with a flat long torque and HP curve. I wouldn't mind going more agressive either. I am ready to do some head work, but I am thinking hard about dropping in a 6.0 liter.

Yep just as you described. I was on a budget and used what I had laying around the shop at the time. Now I have a few coins to spend so Comp Cams here I come.

Have you looked into another brand or grind of cam? I am not sure that there will be that much difference in cams from the LS6 to that comp cam. I know it has a 114 LSA, which will help.
Keep me informed.

What all is involved in dropping in the 6 litre? What I mean is, is all the FI components same as the 5.3? All the same sensors and wiring etc? Same ECM? Will the 4l60e work on a 6.0? When my 5.3 wears out or blows up and its time to replace, I would love to go to something bigger but don't want to hassle with a lot of conversion BS. Are the accessories the same? Where can you get new 6.0l motors besides ordering them from GM? Sorry for all the questions.

BigTex that is what I am after. With the 114 LSA it should produce power lower in the range. I was looking at the crane cam but it's rpm limit is 6000 rpm. Valve float occurs. I shift right before 6000 rpm but still would like a cushin. I will probably get the 918 springs just to be safe, that way if I want more aggresive the sporings will be in place. I will be getting the cam at the end of the month. Only get paid once a month (local gov employee). I was also looking for a slight lope. Nothing to radical though and that cam seems to fit the bill.

I can't believe a roller cam will float valves at 6k? Hell I shift with the stock cam at 5950 on the tach(its probably off some)and never float valves. On my ls1 formula I used to shift it at 6100rpms, no valve float. That strikes up many questions
