Default Paging BigTex

Hey Tex,

I've got some electronics hijinx related to the gear selector and my oil pressure gauge. Basically, the trans shifts fine and selects gears fine, but the indicator only reads R and 3rd (mostly R) and the oil pressure is pegged whenever the key is not "off". Now I was thinking that the gauge cluster was messed up, but a cop told me my reverse lights are always on.

Can you look in that magical wiring diagram source you have and help me figure out if the reverse lights are keyed by the PCM or the gauge cluster?

I'm thinking that my gauge cluster may be fried.

I'll look and get back with you.

The PRND321 transmission selector switch slides over the shifter on the side of the trans. It sends a signal to the electronics as to what gear your transmission has been put in. That part has been notorious for having a bad electrical plug. It commands the cluster lights and probably the reverse lights.

Oil pressure - I'd see if I could manually check pressure. Maybe a scanner or Tech2.

I had the tranny out. The guy who reinstalled it tried to adjust the PRND32L selector switch but said it wasn't adjustible. I found out today that I can get it out of reverse by going to 1 and then walking back up to D. I also have more indicators today (nothing changed) -- back to PRND3, still no 2,1 and still goofy (like D will show the R or N depending on what it was in last, unless you go all the way to 1. Starting to sound strangely lke the selector switch is installed wrong or badly.
