i want the painted ones because they are cheaper, but the ceramics would be nice. hows the painted ones going to hold up to the salt and such we get up here in the midwest?
I got a real good deal on some used Ceramic coated. If you can find them for a good deal they are more than worth it. Painted one's will chip off real easy in the midwest, or probably anywhere.

i would go with the coated ones. they have a great finish and yes, the painted ones will peel and chip after a while.

well i got a litle driving done with the LTs today and my butt dyno confirms a decent gain above 3k and no loss below. should be getting a retune in the next couple of days, hopefully before the strip friday night, then it should feel great.

Well I just ordered pacesetter's (coated) with the ory. Im looking forward to getting them put on. Hopefully it will give me a little more power, reasonably priced considering shorty's are about the same price.
Are they a big pain to put on or do they fit pretty good without taking to much apart? Im hoping to get it done in a couple of hours one night after work.

if you are using normal hand tools it will take you a few hours to get the stock garbage off and put the new lt's on. that time would also include the ory. putting the lt's on were a piece of cake. it was the ory that was time consuming. my buddy's welder was running a little bit slow and we had to keep making measurements because i was having hiflow cats welded into the ory. grab a friend to help you and it will go pretty smoothly.

Besides the plugs, the only thing i had to takin off was the steering arm, and thats just 1 bolt to move it to the side for some room. You'll want to jack the truck up and go in from underneath putting the headers in a vertical angle, getting them up there, and then leveling them out into place.
everything else you can use some Band Clamps to hold together.

Kinda like 15.3 minus .3 = 15.0?

That would make sense.
Haha yeah I meant I dropped 3 tenths off my quarter mile time. I believe I went from 14.9x @ 91mph to 14.6x @93mph.

I ran Gibson shorty's with their Super Truck ex on my procharger 5.3. Last summer I switched to Pacesetter LT"s with ORY (also retuned) and honestly my 1/8 times did not change at all. It def sounded nastier but quicker..not really. Maybe because of the supercharger or limitations of the motor, I don't know. However as I continue to mod, (forged 370) those LT's will pay off in upper rpm breathing. So you guys with smaller ci motors and limited mods I don't think you'll see much performance advantage with LT"s over shorty"s....Just my .02

i disagree. i think shorties basically do nothing, maybe a little gain but call it not better than stock. i dont think theres any debate that the longtubes are a lot better than stock. anyway like i said before, i havent heard of anybody not gaining power from lts after a good tune.

for yall new guys that are going to be installing pacesetters in the near future, yall need to get the BAND CLAMPS, dont use the regular ones that pacesetter sends you they are a piece of junk and WILL leak.... so do it right the first time!

Or weld on flanges like I did so you don't have to cut into your exhaust every time you drop the transmission.
