Default P0153 after header install

Hey guys, I just installed LPP Longtubes and catless y-pipe on my 01 RCSB 5.3 and am getting a P0153. I just replaced the o2 sensors Friday and its still popping up with the slow response code on bank 2. I am tuned for longtubes nd the truck runs fine, just getting the dang code every other drive. It seems to come up when the truck is warm.

I have read about corvette sensors, grinding off some of the o2 bung, getting codes tuned out, fixing leaks, etc. Has anybody fixed the problem? I tightned/checked for leaks yesterday morning and had none. The sensors are tight and the wires are in good shape.

Please help,

Matt

Most tuners turn off the bank 2 O2 sensor codes when you install headers. Yeah, throwing those codes are pretty common.

Bank 2 or rear 2? I dont want bank 2 sensor 1 tuned out do I? The front sensors determine a/f ratio right? Not trying to nit pick or split hairs or whatever. Just making sure I get my stuff straight. I dont want to ask the tuner for something, get it, and have a crappy running truck.

Thanks

keep- bank 1 sensor 1, bank 2 sensor 1 (up stream). tune out- bank 1 sensor 2 bank 2 sensor 2 Down stream). I was throwing a code ( cant remember the #'s) but it had to do with sensor not heating up. It was tune fix.

BigDaddy, thanks man. I thought keeping the front was right. The rear sensors are tuned out now and thats not giving me any trouble. Just the P0153, bank 2 sensor 1 slow response. Ive read that its bc of the larger pipe. I just dont know how to fix it

You need the front sensors. I was thinking bank 2 was the rear. Guess bank 2 means passenger side.

that's definitely the front sensor.
usually if it was a forgot to tune for no cats code itd be P0420 for catalytic efficiency

Its tuned for no cats and no rear sensors. All of that is fine. Im just getting the bank 2 sensor 1 pre cat slow response code. Is there a fix besides a retune? Thats my big question.

Check for exhaust leaks around your passenger front o2 sensor. Usually if its the headers them self causing it you will have a P0133 also.

The common "fix" is to simply set P0133 (driver's side aka Bank 1) and P0153 (passenger side, aka Bank 2) codes to "No Error Reported". It won't affect drivability and will keep the light off.

Longtube headers normally put the O2 sensors farther away from the engine than stock, resulting in less exhaust heat reaching them, hence the "slow response".
