Overheating at Idle

Hi Guys,
Well, come to find out my ex had only water in the radiator. So, flushed it out and replaced the water with Dex-Cool. Wow..what a difference. The truck sits at about 190 without any problems. Today will be the tester as the temprature in Las Vegas will be around 100 degrees. Hopefully when its sits at idle today it will remain cool. I will keep you posted. The truck has much more spunk now..is that normal? Must have just been running too warm.

i thought water only was supposed to not get as hot. the reason poeple put dex-cool(anti-freeze) in there is because at 32* the water will freeze and mess stuff up. dexcool lowers the freezing point and raises operating temp. just what i remember reading but if it worked for you then awesome.

maybe, i just remember reading on the back of a bottle of redline coolant additive the 100%coolant temp was highest, 50/50 was middle and the 100% water was the coolest but its been a while since i read it so maybe im wrong. probably.
