With 65K on my stockers I figured it was time, I ordered some Taylor Thundervolt 10.4mm wires and NGK tr55's from Summit racing. They should be here tomorrow if Fed Ex doesn't screw up again. Are they worth any real power or is it just a smoother idle and throttle response thing?

Generally speaking unless you plugs are bad or gapped wrong (very common from the factory) or your plug wires have deteriorated then changing them probably wont net you much if any difference in power BUT it almost always smooths things out and makes the truck/car feel better, Can smooth out the lines on a dyno run too.

Well I got them an installed them which went fine. The wires are THICK, 10.4 mm is a thick wire. I used plenty of dielectric grease on the wire connections and anti-sieze on the plug threads. Idle does seem smooother but it could be wishful thinking. It's a good PM, new wires and plugs couldn't hurt.

F8L was right on...
I did plug wires on my last two trucks. Both times they never netted any real noticeable power increases, just smoother power delivery throughout the rpm range, and better throttle responce down low. It takes less pedal to get going or hold a speed, so they'll net you better MPG.
I still think they're a great mod.
