Default Opinions on the Vinci 065 in a 4.8 RCSB truck

Hey everyone, with the Vinci GP coming up here soon, I want some educated opinions on the new 065 they have. My truck is down in my sig, and I'm wondering what some of you may think of the new 065 grind Vinci has? My truck is bone stock other than a Predator hand held and moves out pretty good now for what it is, but I would like to "enhance" its current powerband, maybe even shift it up slightly but not too much. If I recall, the stock specs on the 4.8L cam is something like a 190/190 duration cam with a .490/.490 lift with 118 degree lobe separation. (someone please correct me if I'm even slightly off). Now here's my question, am I wasting my time even purchasing the 065 cam for my little 294 cubic inch motor? The specs on the 065 are 200/208 with a .502/.502 lift and a LSA of 114. Does anyone even think it will have any postive effects on the motor? Will it provide any seat of the pants increase? What I'm aiming for is a flatter, more usable torque curve and something that pulls slightly harder up to 6,000RPMS. Also I would like to mention I'm not looking for a dyno queen that is putting out high peak horsepower #'s. I just want a more responsive cam all across the board that works well under daily driving. Sometimes I get stuck in traffic and end up idling it one spot for 5-10 minutes even so I don't want something that lopes and bucks and surges at a low RPM. Also, the 4.8 I know is only 9.5:1 compression so I don't want to lose too much cyl pressure. Also, I'm concerned about brakes and vacuum. Would going with the Vinci 044 be a tad too much for my little 4.8? I only want to do this once and do it right. Another factor is I don't want to swap pushrods, rockers or springs out. I just want to be able to do a straight out cam swap and be done with it. I have no future mods planned for my truck at all other than a Silverado SS Cat Back and that is all. Sorry if this post seems a bit broken up, I'm just laying one thought down at a time. Maybe I end up doing nothing at all. I am just afraid the 065 won't be that noticeable and the 044 will be too much cam for a daily driver. Maybe GM did a pretty good job already with the factory cam that's in our trucks......

Opinions please.....

Thanks in advance,

Joe

Well, I do know tha with any cam swap, especially the cam's you are talking about are going to require a spring swap, sorry. I am looking at going the Z06 route, and that cam is going to require a spring swap as well.

Springs must be changed, pushrods are cheap insurance, stock rockers are fine. I wouldn't be afraid of running the 044 in a 4.8, especially one with a 5 speed.
