Opinions on new custom grind cam????

I like the tight lsa low duration approach to a n/a truck setup myself. I think it will run great. I don't think the 224 duration is really necessary in a 4.8 with your compression, maybe if you milled the heads a little though.

IMO it is a little big for the 4.8
Well if i had physical space to do the swap it would allready be done, however having a slanted driveway really makes a motor swap impossible... I made the mistake of removing the motor of my mustang in my driveway, and once the engine was free and clear the damn engine hoist with the engine and tranny attached started rolling down the driveway. It took 3 people to get it to stop moving.....
Yep I think it will be a cool experiement if anything.. Selling cams on this board is relatively easy, and so is a cam swap so if i don't like it i will just swap to another one..

I bought some worked 862's to go on my truck, they have bigger valves, worked combustion chamber (58cc), dual springs (good to .650), Ti retainers, etc, etc... they will be installed with a .04 head gasket. I was thinking about swaping out the cam to get the most out of it. Since the combustion chamber has been altered and the compression raised to ~ 10.25, I figured i could up the DCR even more with a new cam since the heads/combustion chamber can handle it...

BlackGMC, your best bet is to get in contact with Ed Curtis over at FlowTech Induction. Notice how I didn't say someone like, but to actually get ahold of him specifically. We all think we're self proclaimed cam guru's, and I myself even get carried away sometimes, but Ed will design a camshaft just specifically for your needs. He'll calculate your trucks weight, gears, tires, trans gear ratios, displacement of motor, heads, exhaust, intake, etc etc and then consult with you on what you expect out of the truck as far as idle quality, operating range of RPM and intended purposes. He'll work on your VE's for awhile and then design a camshaft that will be PERFECT for you. There will really be no reason to install anything else in your truck unless your combination changes for some reason. PM me for details.

I know the CR won't change with the cam, maybe I miss communicated that, but the DCr will change...
I don't claim to be a cam guru, but i have put some research into the setup... I just like trying out different things... I am going to run my current cam for a little bit to see how the heads alone affect things. I will give you a pm about ed' contact info when and if I decide on swapping out the cam.
yep i have thought about it, but i would like to try something a little different than the norm...
