Any suggestions on this cam? Will it hurt my low end power? The power with this cam is supposed to be from 1500-5000 RPM. Someone told me today that my truck was too heavy for this cam.

The one I tried that really sucked was a 201/212/.500/.500 with a LSA of 119.5. The LSA being so high was probably my problem, I'm not sure. But it lost so much torque that it wouldn't brake torque at all (go pedel on the carpet). With the lower LSA I think you should gain some though.

I have that cam in my truck now. Made by Crane. Performs really well. It hauls *** to weigh 5200 lbs and it sounds kick *** also. Slight lope, nothing radical and power is there right off of idle. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" />

jlwz71 - I was about to ask you for an update on your cam. It sounds like you still like it. Have you noticed anything strange with it?
Heres a question for you - Freeway speeds, low rpm (1500 or below), converter locked up and AC on- How is throttle response? I assume it is better then the LS6, but give me some details please.
Thanks
Richard

Nope nothing strange at all. Just got back from the Outer Banks, NC. 360 mile drive and the truck performed excellent. On I-81 was hitting speeds of 95 mph which was no problem at all. It kept on pulling and that was with my whole familys luggage in the ***. My coverter does not lock up until 50 mph but if I give her the gas she pulls well. Some hills it will downshift to 3rd but they are steep. At freeway speeds with AC on to me it runs excellent. I beleive the LS6 made more power up above 5000 rpm but to tell you the truth I prefer the drivability of this one. It is staying in no questions asked. Below 1500 rpm it is a hair weak, but after that till she shifts the damn thing screams. Need to get edit to get rid of the misfire detection though. It is not a problem with the idle as long as you don't sit for to long. Check engine light has come on once due to p300 but went away and never came back. If I will be idling for long periods I just blip the throttle every once in a while. Problem solved. I would not even worry about the light but if it is on for a p300 the verter wont lock.
