Default OMG!!! huge speed inc. gripe

you guy are not going to believe this. sept 18th i ordered a tranny from speed inc, they(tom) told me i would have it in 2weeks. they(tom) also told me he would give me a deal, their stage 2 trannys just went on sale and that he would give me a similar discount on the stage 3. he agreed to pay shipping was the special deal. i remember asking exactly what will this cost and he said $1999.99 plus a refundable core charge of $600, nothing more.

today i call the shiping company and guess what, the tranny was shiped cod for the shipping, i figure they(tom) just forgot to tell his people to knock off the shipping so i give them a call. i didn't talk to tom but i talked to one of his guys and he suposadly talked to Tom and the message i got was that he never agreed to free shiping and if i don't want the tranny just refuse it from the shipping company.

what the hell kind of **** is that!! i talked to this guy for 20minutes, a also talked to the flp guys for awhile and a local guy, i had choices and i went with speed inc. i paid for their best set up and he(tom) made all sorts of claims and a few promisis, now i can't believe anything they say. do you see the date today, it has been way over 2 weeks, he isn't paying shipping, what happens when i bolt it up and have a problem. i am glad he told me just to refuse the thing, i am definately going with a local builder now, this is nuts, i have never been screwed with like this.

if he tries to screw me out of one penny of that $2600 he charged to my card i will make it a mission of mine to see that everyone i can find hears my story, so far a am just telling you guys cause i know(sort of) alot of you but there are alot of other places i can post this. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Mad]" src="gr_images/icons/mad.gif" /> <img border="0" title="" alt="[Mad]" src="gr_images/icons/mad.gif" /> <img border="0" title="" alt="[Mad]" src="gr_images/icons/mad.gif" /> <img border="0" title="" alt="[Mad]" src="gr_images/icons/mad.gif" /> <img border="0" title="" alt="[Mad]" src="gr_images/icons/mad.gif" />

damn dude, that sucks <img border="0" title="" alt="[Sad]" src="gr_sad.gif" />

i hope it somehow works out for you... i would almost feel safer going to a reputable local builder over a mail order transmission anyways just incase you have any further problems.

Man, that totally sucks!! <img border="0" title="" alt="[Sad]" src="gr_sad.gif" />

I had a similiar incident with an engine builder years ago when I put a V8 in a S10. The motor wasn't right from the start. When I took it back they said they would fix it, no cost. Then when its time to pick it up they want thousands of dollars and basically called me a liar. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Mad]" src="gr_images/icons/mad.gif" />

Good luck!! Don't let this turn you off about modding your truck. Things will work out in the end.

This is why I don't know what to do about a transmission when the time comes. I may just put a bulletproof 3speed in there(plenty of local shops that can build those) and get a gv overdrive $$$ <img border="0" title="" alt="[Sad]" src="gr_sad.gif" /> sometime in the future.

it is interisting that theese people that are (profeshionals)and do this every day can mess sh*t up like this. we pay thousands of dollars to theese people and get no respect. i am not just talking about this case but in general to performance places. i have not had a pleasent experience building my truck up either. i do have to say that out of all of this i have to give the people at CAL TRACS major compliments on customer service. they sent me my parts and it did not work because i had a custom aplication and they did not know that. it was no problem they made custom parts for me and sent them to my door no problems.this is on top of me already having all the parts. no questions and i did not have to pay for the extra shiping. for them being so nice i told them i would send the extra parts back after all the extra perts were halfs a set of track bars. also you could reach them on the phone unlike most os theese other places. great experience with them. it is all bs but this goes to show there are still some places out there that are nice to deal with.

man if i were you i'd take a trip to speed inc. and punch tom in the face. HARD. don't even think twice about it.

shitty customer service (especially on something as important and costly as a tranny) pisses me off <img border="0" title="" alt="[Mad]" src="gr_images/icons/mad.gif" />

if i were you i'd inform every person on this site.

This is surprising, i've used speed inc for the past 2 years, have there stage III tranny and haven't had a problem. It broke on my once after 4 months but the one I had was the very first design. So far this one I have is holding fine.

Don't forget to call your credit card company and let them know the charge will be credited. That way you are on record now with them about it. So if he does not refund, sic the credit card people on him. They love to go after people like that, I think they have packs of rabid lawyers chained up in closets for stuff like that. Good luck, I know you will be smokin tires soon enough, one way or the other.

I'm glad you cancelled. Make them eat the shipping charges both ways. They didn't deserve your money.
