Default older TBI to vortec?

just bought a 91 Burb (the 'classic' body style) with the 350, lots o miles so I want to put in a GM crate engine. no, i don't want to build anything or supercharge- a 383 would be nice but out of the budget!. question is, if i get a crate motor with the vortec heads, i've heard the older tbi setup doesn't work as well with the vortec swirl. wondering if a slightly newer intake (aftermarket or factory), would bolt up and work with the rest of my tbi- or what the differences might be tween my 91 tbi and a newer tbi? also, does a big block truck use the same tbi setup? have the 700r4- which might not bolt up or last long behind a 454- but just wondering. just gonna be used to haul family, and occasional towing.
