Thumbs down ok i had enough i am done!!

i believe i have broke another dual valve spring will see tomorrow when i baby it back to h-town for an umexpected visit. it sounds like another exhaust spring i have broke both intake and exhaust.this would be the third in 12-13000 miles. i am going to change my cam. i would not advise using a 226/226-.591/.591-112 in a truck. only prob is i dont have the money to change it so i will prob go throu a couple more springs waiting on the money. i dont know what the deal is: if it is too much cam for this heavy of truck or maybe it is not it just has too much lift.??? i dont know dont care any more but it will be changed eventualy.

(vent off)
will up date you tomorrow some time.

You could go with a LS6 cam and springs for cheap and probably not lose much hp.I would'nt go over .550 lift on a street driven truck. Are you checking for coil bind or installed heights on your valvesprings? If you are breaking valvesprings as often as you say,you have a problem with coil bind, with .591 lift the springs will need replacing at regular intervals due to fatigue.

What springs are you using? We had this problem with two sets of heads from patroit after installing a G5X2 cam in a buddies WS6. The were installing the wrong springs and setting them up poorly which was causing coil bind. After the second set we put the rev doubles that came with the cam from LG in his stock heads and havent had a problem since.

.591 lift is simply too much on a daily-driven vehicle. Expect to change the springs out every 10-15K miles if you are running it hard. Stick with less than .560 lift and it should last much longer.

Also, never beat on the truck while the engine is cold.

yea i learend my lesson and knew better the first time it happened. it happened cause it was cold.

i agree 100% that it is too much lift. that is why it will be changed.

the springs are rev duals and now there is one or two with lunatie outers for temp. till i change everything. craig set the heads up and everytime i went over there he checked the springs for bind. said i was good for like .6 something lift. so i believe the heads are setup correctly cause gtp did them.
