Default Oil system

Is there a check valve in the oil system somewhere to keep the oil in the lifter oil galleries.

No check valve, but there is a dumbbell shaped piece of plastic at the back of the block that splits oil and directs it. Some oil filters are available with anti drainback valves...

Yep, barbell restrictor. If you dont install one, you will have zero oil pressure.
