Default Oil pump

Can you get at the pressure relief valve in the pump by just dropping the pan?

The oil pumps on these are pretty easy to remove. If you are going to have the pan dropped anyways especially you could just pull the pump assembly off and get right at the pressure relief valve.

Actually the oil pump can be removed without dropping the oil pan at all, it's not fun but it can be done. Did an oil pump swap just a couple months ago myself and didn't loosen any bolts at all on the pan. Doing it this way you will definitely get frustrated though but just saying it can be done.

Yea I've lost one in the pan before lucky the alum. pan makes for easy magnet searching. But I wanted to check if the relief valve is stuck before I pull the frt apart. Its a new motor and when the oil pressure finally came up it pegged the gauge and then dropped low and after that there was no pressure. I pulled the filter and up plugged the coils and then cranked it and nothing came out so i'm pulling the pan to check the valve.

Ah I see what you're saying. Yeah their have been issues unfortunately where their can be a burr in there where the relief valve is and they get hung up.
