Default oil pressure sensor?

this is about an 88' small block carburated 350.
i'm leaking oil from the block where the oil pressure sensor is.
the sensor is horizontal with an elbow connecting to a shaft that is going into the block. the shaft is loose and i can turn it, but can't get it out because the sensor is still connected to it.
I DON'T KNOW WHICH WAY TO TURN THE NUT ON THE SENSOR
i'm thinking about maybe using so penetrating oil on the nut?
and some teflon tape around the threads of the shaft that goes into the block?
but i'm not sure if the tape can handle that amount of heat, what do you think?
sorry i can't post a pic
