Angry oil pressure ploblem

ok the oil pressure has started acting p over the last month.

built motor has 38k miles temp was a little under 210, oil is full, oil is mobil1 10/30, truck idles at a little above 900rpm's, has z06 pump

ok my truck has always stayed aroung 40psi and rose slightly when WOT. but lately it has been hanging a noch below 40 and i started wondering. well today i was ideling and it went to 20 and stayed (i was freaking). pressure rose but not much when in motion.

what are your thoughts?
i am thinking the little valve in the pump possibly or possibly the pump.
though about putting a mech guage on it.
O and i am gona change the oil tomorrow and take a sample to have tested. hopping the filter is possibly cloged or something.

any ideas....

Best case scenario would be the guage sending unit...I'd put a mech guage on it like you said and check the actual pressure. If it is low...possible oil pump issue. Hopefully not a bearing issue.

only other thing i can think is it is something with the shims on the oil pump for the double t-chain. when cold and i start it i have good pressure. yes i put rtv on tthe shims and am 99% sure they were installed correct i know they are not blocking tha passage

Man I hope not

My truck sounds like a lifter is gonna jump out of it...when I did the cam originally I noticed that the front cam bearing looked a little iffy. I said F-it and went for it. It's always been noisy, just seems real noisy now. Runs strong and oil pressure is as good as always...

litreddevil's cam bearing situation has me a little concerned though, that's kinda scary about the second cam bearing

WELL THE MOTOR HAS ONLY 10800 MILES ON IT GM REBUILD THE MOTOR HAD NO PROBLEMS JUST IN FEB. IT STARTED @ IDLE ONLY OIL PRESSURE WOULD BE AROUND 15 TO 20 PSI.THE MOTOR RAN FINE NO NOISE.YOU WILL BE FINE JUST IF YOUR OIL PRESSURE GOES DOWN ARE DOES SOMETHING DIFFERENT STOP AND CHECK IT OUT ASAP

When I first built my motor it was having oil pressure problems started at 40psi idling and ended up droping to 25psi. I changed the oil (mobil1) and filter and the oil pressure went back up to 40psi. So before you do anything change the oil and see if that fixes the problem. Good luck
