oil pan gasket question

Default oil pan gasket question

on an 04 lq4 the oil pan gasket is rivited to the pan when i change the gasket do i have to rivit the new one to the pan

you could if you want too, but you dont have too. I just put the gasket on and start a couple bolts into the rubber insert of the gasket to hold it still

There is an elaborate alignment procedure for the GenIII LS pan/timing cover. Don't forget to put a dab of RTV at the Pan/Block/Timing Cover junction when putting the cover back on.
