Ok, I picked up a couple K&N filters today. an HP 1007 and an HP 2006. The 2006 looks to be longer. Its recommended from 99-02 trucks. Is there any reason why I should use the smaller 03 specific filter? It appears that the corvettes with the 5.7s use this smaller 1007 too, odd, I thought.

I just went with the K&N because their site says they have the valve, where are Wix filters sold?

the only difference is the actual filter is longer.

what you didn't belive me?
NOT AT ALL

Too sweeten the pot when I bought my truck, my salesman offered me the first oil change for free.

I wanted to do it myself so I asked him if he could get me the oil and the filter and believe it or not he did!!

An AC Delco PF46 and 6 quarts of Valvoline 5W-30!! I don't know why he gave me Valvoline but I am going to Mobil 1 anyway. I'll use the Valvoline on my beater.

Still that valvoline is still better then probley what the dealership uses........ Honestly since a small percentage of this forums users will actually get a dealership to change their oil. The oil quite a few use is bulk 5w30, very cheap, but its not the dealerships fault they use its their customer base that could care less for quality.
The best cheap oil is Chevron why its a Group II mineral oil, where as their are more expensive dino oils that are group I.
