Default Oil Filter?

I just bought a 2007 Silverado Classic last Thurs. and was wondering if a Mobil 1 M1-206 will fit the truck. I did a search and didn`t find a confirmed answer. It has a 5.3 in it and the motor code on the vin number is Z. In my owners manual it has a Vin code X for V6 and C,O,3,M, and J for the 5.3 and K and Y for the 6.0. So what the hell is the Z motor that is in my truck? Thanks for any help fellas.

The "Z" engine that is in your truck is the flex fuel version of the 5.3 liter engine. Exactly the same as a regular vin "T" 5.3, only yours can run on E-85.

OK Cool. That helps out alot. I knew that it had the ethanol motor, but my owners manual didn`t have a listing for the Z motor. So what up with the long oil filter part number in the Mobil 1 filter. I plan on running Royal Purple in this motor. I have lost two motors using Mobil 1, but one was a rebuild fug up and the other has not been confirmed yet. My Dad had 180,XXX on his truck with Mobil 1 with no problems. Mobil 1 is good oil I just want to try somthing diffrent.

If you wanna try something different, try German Castrol 0W-30. Don't let the numbers fool ya, I run it in my 4.8L and a whole messload of guys over on LS1tech use it in their Camaros, etc... What you'll be looking for is a black bottle of Castrol Syntec that says "European Formula" on the front, and on the back says it is "made in Germany". Trust me, the stuff is awesome, but only, and I mean ONLY the GERMAN made stuff, not the domestic-materials Syntec. BTW, the German Castrol only comes in 0W-30, so it isn't that hard to spot a fake. The only downside to the stuff is that it's only good for about 4k-6k miles depending on if you change the filter and add a half quart of fresh oil to the engine while doing so. Rant over.
