Default Oil Cooler?

When I boosted my 13' silverado, I used the block that feeds the oil cooler to feed my turbo. I'm thinking not having an oil cooler is likely leading to hotter oil temps, although I haven't confirmed this yet. I'm looking at getting one of those blocks that has two connections so that I can feed both the turbo and the cooler. My question is, would you guys use the stock cooler that is built into the radiator or get an aftermarket one?

Mine own preference would be to use the radiator's oil cooler. The next consideration is whether you want to feed the turbocharger hot engine oil or cooled engine oil, I forget how it was arranged on the Buick V6s but whichever it was, that is what I would emulate.

You make a good point. I'll look into that. Thx...

What makes you think your oil temps are high? You getting lower oil pressure at idle, after driving it for a bit?

Yes, I am getting lower pressure at idle, definitely concerning.. That's not necessarily why I'm concerned about the heat. From what I've been told, running a turbo will generate more oil heat. I assumed not having a cooler in place would be a bad idea. I'm hoping to be able to check the actual temps soon..

Turbos dump a **** ton of heat into the oil, I know mine was 250+ in just a few minutes putting around the block not being hard on it. I added a B&M generic 5x10 cooler and it kept it in the 200-220 range.

where did you mount the generic oil cooler? Did you have a fan or anything on it?

That's good feedback, thanks! Did your truck come with an oem cooler?

No I added it with one of those billet block off plates. Also had ports for temp sensor and turbo feed.
