Default Oh ****! Problems! HELP!

I have big problems, and I need your help!

I did the TB Bypass today during my 2nd block AutoTech class. Only one problem: I hooked up the wrong lines! I pumped my engine full of antifreeze!

Ok, so now your thinking I'm dumb as dirt! Well, I'll admit it does sound dumb, but I'm not some idiot that doesn't know what they are doing. This is the first mod of this sort that I have done to this truck.

I got the lines hooked back up right, refilled the antifreeze, and changed the oil (it was milky). Now I have a SES light. Why is the light on? How do I get it to go off? Is my truck fucked up?

Help guys. I feel like a complete dumbass for screwing up something so simple, that bad!

Thanks,
Josh Hucks

I would change that oil about 4 times (with about a 5 min run time between changes) before I would trust that all the antifreeze is out of the system....as for the SES lght, it was probably set because it sensed a drop in the antifreeze level...pulling the ECM fuses and cycling the ignition should clear that

your motor should be ok...but change that oil a few more times before hitting it really hard

Oh man! Thanks. I was worried that my motor was toast! So pull ECM fuses and try to crank it a few times right?

Also, how do I get in touch with tbyrne for a Predator programmer and a thermostat?

Thanks,

Damn, you're lucky you didn't bend a rod after water got in the cylinder.

If anything like that happens again take the plugs out, pull the ignition and fuel pump fuses, and crank the motor over. That will help get the water outta the cylinder so you don't lock the motor up. If you've already started the motor since the coolant got in there you should be fine.

You might want to change the oil again to be certain there is no more coolant in it.

Here is the link to Tom's website.

Most of us have made mistakes in our first stabs at mods. If it was easy we would all be runing with Parish8. On my car, GTO (realy a Tempest) when I pulled it out of the field it shot fire out the carb. I later put a valve into the piston. I was 16. I learned. Now the GTO can pull the front tires of the ground. And thats cool.

Thanks guys! Yes I agree, I am lucky!

I changed the oil again, just to be safe! Before I put the drain plug back in, I ran a quart through to flush it. She's ok now, but I was shittin this mornin'. I really thought I was SOL! The SES light has gone off and I added some more coolant. Good thing my truck never sees the dealership !

I appreciate the info on how to get with tbyrne. I will be in touch with him.

Thanks,
Josh Hucks

Sounded like it was just about time for a motor upgrade. Hope it all works out.

How exactly did you manage to hook up the wrong lines?
