I'm doing a mild cam swap in the aluminum block 5.3 I just picked up to replace the ~150k mile LM7 in my Suburban. It's sitting on an engine stand and I won't be pulling the 799 heads it came with... so I inverted it on the stand to keep the lifters "up" (-side-down).

Works like a charm!

So for those of you who are doing the cam swap with the engine in the truck, and don't want to purchase dowels or pen magnets, just turn the truck upside down!

And blackcash is correct, if you don't have the DOD lifters, then you already have LS7 lifters as standard equipment
