I buy the 100 oct from the airport and mix it witha little methonal/alcohol. It smells funny coming out the exhaust, but i think it works well with the N2O. The ping goes away as well. I did have to replace my O2s about 6 months ago though.

im currently ls1edit tuned for 93octane. if i was to go to the track and run the **** outta my truck would you guys recommend like half 104 unleaded race gas, and half 93 octane?

it gets hot down here in South TX, and was wondering if the higher octane would help?

so far im not pinging or detonating.

the highest octane unleaded is 100. The race fuels with more have lead and will destroy your O2s. With increased compression you get more detination with lower octane fuels than lower compression engines. Under a load or high revs also higher octane will usualy tend to detonate less because it burns cooler.

If you are not detonating then higher octane wont help. What alot of people don't realize is higher octane doesn't make you faster unless your motor combination and timing requires it. Higher octane is more resistant to exploding/Detonation . So unless you need the high octane to run more boost, nitrous, compression or timing, then it isn't going to make you faster. In fact some people actually lose power on the dyno when running high octane gas over low octane or they simply don't gain anything and end up wasting money.

I've used 104 Unleaded many times here in Michigan

The higher the Octane the slower the burn.
If your timing is advanced, and compression is high use high Octane.
High Octane burns hotter (slower)
Low Octane burns cooler ( faster)
The knock you hear with low octane is premature explosion (burning too fast)
With the right timing you can run 87 octane with 12:1 pistons but you will not
have near the power as you would with 110 octane, and advanced timing.
Running too high Octane in a motor that was made for low octane will only build
heat and can cause carbon build up on piston and head. (unburn't fuel)
