octane

hi guys within a few weeks i should be installing my friends stocks ls2 cam from his 05 GTO into my stock 05 5.3 engine. im running 89 octane now should i go up to a higher octane or should that not matter?

It is my personal opinion that you should run and TUNE for the highest pump octane available in you local.
You have to TUNE for it or you will not benefit.

What octane does the GTO require? My guess is 91 or better for best results.

what these guys said and what ever you prefer to run with your tuneing.

just remember, going with that cam will require you to change the cam positioning sensor.
