Anyone know any tricks for how to make my SS more consistent at the track??? I don't care about going any faster or quicker, I just want consistency!
Stock 6.0, homemade MAS, throttle body spacer, volant ram air, flowmaster scavenger cat back system.
Thanks,
John

Damn, you have all the mods that either ar not proven to work, possibly have flow problems and I'm not sure what a home made MAS is. LOL
Get rid of TQ managment and you should be consistant as hell as long as those questionable mods are not doing any harm.

My buddy has an 03SS and that thing runs SUPER consistent. Between 15.25 and 15.35 all the time. He has a superchips programmer, duals flows, an x-pipe, and a volant CAI. Not fast, but conistent. All wheel drive make for some consistent 60' times. I think almost always in the 2.2 range.

I dont have any kind of consistency problems at all either, and I never have. Are you allowing your truck to cool down between runs? make sure you let the truck cool down before every run, trans temp makes a big difference as well. make sure you have consistent tranny temps before you make your run. even with a stock converter you will see higher stall speeds with a warm trans.

my 60 foots are consistent but i usually lose it on the top end. sometimes i can't cool enough before each round, guess that's the price you pay for going rounds. i have found lately that the density altitude has a major factor on my consistency. thanks for the advice.

what is TQ management and how can i get rid of it? my homemade mass air flow sensor is simply the stock sensor with the honeycomb type screen removed. allows much more air into the large duct on the volant. i have found that a mix of either 100 octane race gas with 91 octane or actane booster in a full tank significantly improves my consistency usually. thanks for the tips.

my AWD 6.0 Denali was very consistent when I took it to the track:
15.0 @ 91mph 2.23 60'
15.0 @ 90mph 2.23 60'
15.1 @ 91mph 2.36 60'
15.1 @ 90 mph 2.28 60'
15.1 @ 91 mph 2.35 60'
15.0 @ 91mph 2.23 60'
15.0 @ 90mph 2.23 60'
15.1 @ 91mph 2.36 60'
15.1 @ 90 mph 2.28 60'
15.1 @ 91 mph 2.35 60'

I'm concerned that you said higher pctane results in better consistancy.. If that's the case then your PCM is most likely pulling timing for some reason. It could be that your MAF sensor is leaning you out too much after you pulled the screen out. It happens on some trucks but not all.
Is there anyone in your area that has an scanning software that can data log for you?
Keep an eye out on the Volant threads also. There is rumor going around that some of the Volant models have flow issues. I guess there was a test done where the volant actually made a truck LOSE HP, instead of gain. There was a huge thread on the SilveradoSS.com forum.
Running the truck hot shouldn't effect the ET all that much unless you are having PCM issues. Even the tranny should make the times vary much unless you are hot lapping like a ****
If you are then invest in a good trans cooler. It's money well spent.
