Post Note sure what to go with lqx build or ly6

Regarding my truck its a 1999 silverado stock 5.3 extended cab and the original tranny that was beefed up after a rebuild a few years ago.

Just wanting to get a few comments on what you would do, I have a shop that is willing to build my a lqx bored 60 over with l92 heads, a hot cam, forged J&E pistons intake and 90mm t/b for about $5000 installed.

I have a guy with a ly6, l92 heads with 18k miles that is willing to install/adapt it on my truck for $4300 with stock cam

Neither include headers but the shop with the ly6 will install some Long tube ceramic coated ones with a y pipe and integrate them with my hi flo cats for $830 more and an additional 400 for a hot cam bringing me to a total of $5530. He will supply and install a 373 locking rear end for 600 bux from another customer that bought it and moved to a 342.
That brings me to $6130

Thanks in advanced!
Josh

I think they are both overpriced. You buy an lq9 short block and put the L92 heads/intake on it for much less. And use a better cam. The hotcam is not really considered to be an optimized cam.

If you are going to juice or boost it, I would go with the overbored LQ* block.

i agree with coban. the hot cam is definetly not worth the money. get something with a little more lift.

he wants $1900 for the ly6 but if you can get me in contact with a new ly6 that would be great. Please pardon my lack of experience. I plan to have this all done by the 2nd week in March. I want to get the motor this weekend and start looking for the headers, cam kit, t/b and the other parts needed. Next paycheck I am getting the electric fans and either black bear or nelson harness. I have to read up on that.
