Not much money.

I'm in the exact same spot man, I can buy all of the exterior parts I want but I know performance parts are a nono. Here are a few ideas:
I got a Hypertech because I bought 20's and I told them the speedo would be off and I needed it corrected, so that was my excuse for that. Now I'm getting a mail order tune and told them the Hypertech wasn't accurate so I'm getting something else, haha it worked!
If he doesn't check under the hood just go to AutoZone and buy a K&N FIPK or something, you can install that yourself.
You could find some LS1 Fans online and find an install shop and ask them if the fans can be sent directly there to be installed so you don't have to buy them and then haul them up there(my plan). You could do this with alot of things like a Torque Converter/Shift Kit/Servo etc.. etc..
I'm trying to find a cam with absolute no lope to it at the moment so they won't notice, I've had a few recommended.
I've never mentioned performance stuff to them because I know what the answer would be and I figure they would get suspisious and start checking. The frustrating part is I make my own payment so I shouldn't have to worry about this stuff.

Speaking as a Dad...you guys crack me up! A handheld-tuner should be pretty safe (unless you buy it used and get screwed), mail-order tunes probably won't bite you either, BUT if you decide to have someone put in an 'economy' cam, install a stealthy NOS system, or mess with your throttle-body, or whatever...you better hope they know what they're doing or you could end up with a lot of 'splaining to do!

I would what TX said....
-Wait4Me TUNE
-ASP Pulleys
-160 Thermostat
- TB By-Pass
- Cut Hole in bottom of Airbox
-Shift Kit and Vette Servo (Set it up to shift very mild)
-Maybe E-fans
Just save over time and buy lil by lil, but a Tune would be the first big mod I would do....

yall are forgeting the part about his budget and daddy cant know
pullies are undetectable by the common person but will cost over 200. intake is definately noticable, even by a noob..and can be expensive. shiftkit and servo are way more than 200 after install and dad will **** a brick the first time its driven. i say a tune, and the freemods would give the best results for the budget, and will slip right under the ol' mans nose
. when you get more cash to work with hit us back up and we can give more stealth ideas

Yeah, broke the 5 speed (2nd gear shift fork and 3rd blocker ring) in my Cobra on the juice and had to pull it, get the parts, rebuild it in the garage, and re-install it between 5:15am and 6:30pm while Dad was at work. That was like 6 years ago, he knows and laughs about it now....He would have kicked my *** back then.
