Ive been known to do things like this.... The truck hasn't lost any power, not making noise, and oil pressure is still good. Might slap another gear (the pinion seal happens to be leaking it's *** off too) maybe find a cheap converter to throw in it....
I personally know the 4.3 will handle a 250 shot if tuned properly. 
I'm chasing rabbits now LOL...
