Default Noob Question but need help

I have a 02 Z71 Tahoe. Do you have to drop the trans crossmember to get the factory y pipe off or what is the easiest way to get it out? I started on it in my driveway last night at 11:30.

Im sorry I know its a stupid question but I figured I would ask.
