Default Noise After Insalling Headers???

Ive had my shorties in for a little under a month now and I have been noticing extra noise from under the hood.

When I accelerate it seems like right after a shift there is some noise that sounds like a vibrating sound. I checked the headers and they are on tight with no leaks. My dad said he thinks its just the sound of the headers.

Has anyone else experienced something like this?

Headers will allow more exhaust noise than manifolds...it get a very slight vibraing sound out of my Pacesetters when I shift at 6000, otherwise they sound exactly like every other set of headers to me.

Some headers tend to "ring" more than other at certain RPM. When the exhaust frquency get close to the harmonics of the tubing they can amplify the sound.

Other than that, check for leaks. A long piece of rubber hose to your ears can be used to probe around looking for them. Sometimes stuffing an obstruction into the exhaust at idle helps expose the leaks too.

Check the motor mount heat shields. If you bought your shorties new there was a notice in the box that should have mentioned something about factory tollerances and the headers might rub the heat shield. I ignored all of those paper things they put in the box and waisted a day trying to figure out what was vibrating. I used a BFH and modified my heatshield slightly to provide clearance.

all headers will pretty much make more noise than manifolds because of the thinner walls of the tubing...

Damn i forgot I posted this, been busy...

So then the noise is normal? Thats ggod to know. I did check for leaks with the rubber tube technique and I checked to make sure they were tight. No leaks were heard. I will have to check the heats shields like mentioned above. This might sound dumb but Im not too sure what those look like....

Thanks for the help guys!!!!!
