Default no tm on an rscb?

here in a couple of weeks im hopefuly going to get a nelson tune for my truck. its an 02 4.8 rcsb and the only mod thats on it is some ravin dual exit muffler. Im working at going to school currently, so i dont have very much money to spend on my truck just yet, and i dont plan on doing anything else to it after the tune (cept maybe shift kit). Anyway, i was wondering if it would be safe to go ahead and remove all of the tm. i figure since my truck is as light as they come with a v8, and im not going to be making all that much power, that i probably wouldnt have to worry too much about blowing it up. Anyone else out there running no tm on a stock 4l60e without any problems?

I wouldn't. Many members on this board having broken their 4l60e with very little to no mods. I wouldn't remove all of it. I have 100% Engine removed and 60% Tranny removed.

You might be ok but if it was me I wouldn't do it unless forking over 2k for a transmission wouldn't be a big deal... The 4l60e transmission is a major weak link and I don't think you'd see a huge difference with no torque management so if it was me I'd keep it in to stay on the safe side.

I'm fixing to order my tune, and was wondering how much to get removed. Are you happy with the 100/60%? And how hard is this on the weakest link in your opinion?

I think you hear about the few that break more often than the thousands that don't. I have installed over 500 Predators in the past 5 years in GM trucks with all the TM removed and the pressure turned up. I don't know of a single one failing premature and I see most of these trucks from time to time. Many of these trucks are heavy ext-cab 4x4's.

I've had 0 in mine for about a year. No problems thus far.

I have all of my TM removed and pressures turned up, and so far, so good. Then again, it's only been about 3k, and I'm kinda hoping for something to break to give me an excuse to go 6.0

I am happy with that amount removed. The shifts are great and the motor runs strong. I'm just not brave enough to remove all of it because I do burnouts and stuff quite often and I really don't want to break the tranny.
