i put out a thread but i guess i jacked it up.

2000 ecsb 5.3
3.43 no lsd
k&n filter and hypertech programmer

need to beat:

98 Dakota R/T 5.9
3.90 Posi
k&n cold air, stage 3 mopar PCM,

no 1/4 times yet, but he claims low 14 high 13. i have no idea what i got in the 1/4. race mostly on highway, and he loses me at hypertechs speedlimiter of about 125. no forced induction allowed, and would like to keep the 3.43s(long drive to work) i have about 4 grand to play with. and i will do what is necessary, to hurt his feelings. this is personal, cause this dakota belongs to my brother.

Get rid of the hypertech first of all and get a real tune.
some sort of full exhaust system would be a good idea.
Cam
stall
beef up the tranny with a shift kit, servos, and tranny cooler

That will eat up your budget pretty good and be ready to eat up a few RT's. Seriously that truck is really not that modified.

it wouldn't take much to catch up with him, a 373 or 410 gear, small stall, headers, and all the basic bolt on's with a good tune. his truck should run high 14's close to 15 flat. if yall race on the street, he'll get you out the hole.

Default Holy Cow Man! 4K?

No Forced Induction Allowed? Patoowey! Go race somone else.

Save or borrow up to a Radix Supercharger. You are very close. Do a search here on the Radix.
From what I have read here they are very streetable and help on the gas milage when you go easy. A factory looking install too.
I'm tapped out right now or I would have one now.

I do the highway thing too. I love my 3.42 gears. My L33 with the Corsa exhaust and a blower would be a blast up on the super slab. I am about to sell my ATV for one if I can't figure something out.
Let's see? Ride ATV a few times a year. Ride Radix equipped truck every day? Problem is I love my ATV. It's a Kawasaki Prairie V-Twin 650 with a hot CDI.

Arrrrrrrrrrrghh! 4K! Don't mess around with the small stuff.

A good recipe would be:
Radix
Corsa Exhaust
After the warranty get a Nelson Tune.

10-4 on the hypertek. I put mine in and SLOWED down! I have a 2000 Z-71 with over 100k miles and run mid 15's in 90* weather in south Louisiana, so getting your 2wd down should be easy. I ported/polished my tb, tb bypass, efans, and took the hypertek out, but left the rev limiter and shift points programed. Oh yea, thats with 2 bad plug wires. Waiting for a real tune, cam, exhaust, and stall and hopefully I'll be in the 14's. Good luck.
Oh yer put some 3.90's in the rear end. From what I hear they aren't that bad, even on the smaller 2wd tires.

Default 4K is only the beggining

the reason for no forced induction is reliability. i dont know how yall are on trucks, but out of my 52,000 miles, i would honestly say at least 25,000 are above 3500 rpm. how hard can you run them? i maybe have hit the rev limiter 4-5 times, and all shift points are below 5900 rpm. i run synthetic 30wt oil, change oil every 2K mi, and kill if it is below 91 oct fuel. i need this thing to last me, hell i just turned 21. but i am deployed in iraq making 2K a month, i finished paying off the 28K for the truck . so RIGHT NOW i have 4K, but come october 31 2005... it will be about 15K. judgment day is midnight on halloween, rematch. and everyone will be there, around 30 family and about 150 onlookers. i have talked some big ****. so for reliability, what can i do? will a supercharger beat it up too much? i drive like an @$$hole. yeah and what is a good nuber for oil press? at idle warm it is like 40-45 and 2000rpm is at like 55-60. that about right?

Think I've read of some here with 100K miles on their Radix's. Beaten daily I've only got about 10K on mine. No problems here and it sees 6k daily

I would guess that a high 13 with just the mods your brother has listed is probably a little generous. Secondly, go race at track instead of the highway. You really only need about three mods to wipe the floor with him AT THE TRACK. 1) N2O(its not forced induction), stall, & decent tires. No problemo. If you are racing on the highway, the list will change.

I have a radix and it sees 6K rpm several times a day If you go with the S/C get a shift kit put in the same day or sooner. The Radix killed my stock tranny in about a week, but that could be due to my driving, see line 1 of this post.
