No forward gears in a 4L80E
#1
Hi,
Was checking the engine mounts by putting the vehicle in drive and raising the engine rpm's with brakes applied, then I heard a strange noise followed by no forward gears. Reverse still works, any ideas of what the problem might be? The vehicle is a 1999, 3/4 ton, with 6.0 liter and has 77000 miles.
Thanks

update:
I took of the transmission, and noticed that the flywheel had a crack in a complete circle around the bolts that hold it on to the crankshaft. I then started to disassemble the transmission and found the area where the hub of the torque converter drives the pump had a big crack in the shape of a Y , didn,t find anything else wrong with the tranny. Cluthes seemed to be in good shape. So I guess the only things I will need is a flywheel, new pump assembly and a couple gaskets.

Yeah, that could have been the problem.
I don't think you're supposed to use the HPP3 firmer trans shift settings with a shift kit installed.
I bet that thing shifted pretty hard.
