No cats, No mufflers=MAX HP?

hey guys, i have flowmaster series 40 DF, and a cutout right before that. yall think if i gut my cats it will kill my low end even with the cutout capped? i love the sound of my cut out, but even with that and cats, you can feel the low end loss, but theres a hell of a top end gain. gutting the cats would make it sounds awesome im sure, with it capped and un capped, i just dont wanna loose too much back pressure.....any suggestions?

someone with ls1edit needs to dyno before/after !cats to show how much this loss really is. i am curious, personally i would sacrifice some backpressure for a higher flowing exhaust to make up for it on the top end. Then again, i do no towing at all

You guys know about the escalade. It has the true dual 3" with an X pipe and no cats. That thing is really peppy. It loves the extra big open exhaust. No track times to back it up, but the unofficial gtech shows upper 14s with just a UPD, exhaust, and the 2600 yank.

I opened up the cutouts yesterday in the new location coming off the headers, and all I can say is HUH!!! WHAT!!!Man that was loud. I thought it was loud in the old location. Anyway, the low end basically was gone, but up top to 60, it felt like it pulled better from the SOTP meter. But you could probably here me coming for at least 2 miles! <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" />

Hey guys, about 2 weeks ago I had flopro 3.5 exhaust on my truck. It ran great, but the wife(the root of most of lifes complaints) wanted me to put a quiter muffler on. So I had a 3.5 flomaster big block muffler installed. My track times droped almost half a second. Would I have better times if I ran just strait pipe?
I went from consistant 9.02-9.2 in the 1/8 to where last night I ran 9.6s

well, you do want SOME backpressure, but you also want good exhaust flow. free flowing is typically better......
if these exhausts are gonna flow, they're gonna make some noise.......buy your wife some earplugs already.......if she starts complaining, step on the gas.....
